Outdoor Sports Center’s philosophy is simple: the outdoors is our playground. With that as their foundation, the family-owned retailer has spent more than 50 years cultivating a love for the outdoors in their community of Fairfield County, Connecticut, simultaneously earning the store a reputation as an authority in the outdoor industry.
Now they’re looking to expand that vision even further with the addition of a new Sales Manager to oversee operations of their cycling department. The Sales Manager will be given the tools, training, and support to enhance his or her personal skill sets in order to propel the business and their own career forward.
Benefits of the Bicycle Sales Manager position include a competitive salary ($50,000 to $60,000 annually depending on experience), a supportive and extensive training program, paid time off, paid holidays and a Simple IRA matching plan. Outdoor Sports Center is a rewarding, close-knit work environment with a renowned outdoors culture. Fairfield County offers small-town charm and ample outdoor adventure nearby, as well as a top school district. The position offers competitive benefits, plus the opportunity to work and grow in an industry you love, all while furthering stewardship of the outdoors.
The position requires candidates with enthusiasm, excitement, and energy for their industry, their employees, and their shop. Ideal applicants should have extensive experience in retail management, specifically in the bicycle industry, as well as a proven track record of effective employee management. This position requires the ability to make executive decisions to guide, grow, and evolve the team and business. Qualified candidates should feel comfortable supporting the sale of high-end cycling products (including road, mountain, hybrid, and kid’s bikes and car racks) from a variety of brands, as well as have a working knowledge of other outdoor brands in areas including outdoor apparel, footwear, skis and snowboards, camping, climbing, and water sports (canoes, kayaks, and SUPs). The position requires interacting with a broad range of clientele, from novice to elite-level outdoorsmen and cyclists, and turning them into brand fans. If you’re detail-oriented and ambitious with a heart for customer service and a mind for team development, then this is the job for you.
