The Standout Skis & Snowboards for 2018!

Winter might be winding down, but the top brands in the industry have already released their new equipment for the next season. We spent a week testing new models from beginner to expert level to decide which gear will line our shelves next winter. After skiing with reps from Nordica, K2, Never Summer, Burton, and Ride to name a few, we learned the ins and outs of innovations from each brand and now have a good feel for which skis and snowboards stood out on the mountain. Here's a sneak peak of what to expect for the 2017/18 season:

Being able to test the equipment on-snow give us the chance to recommend the right gear for our customers. This year brands like Nordica, Salomon and Never Summer stepped up their game with new improvements that blew us away.

SALOMON's brand new lineup: Men's XDR 75/78/80 Ti
Salomon took the shape of the all time favorite Quest ski and converted it into a frontside carving ski. The result: more fun, lighter weight and easier to maneuver, in all conditions. They reached their goal designing a truly versatile ski for the whole mountain, by using a progressive rockered tip, and wood core melded with titanium inside. Best all around ski for resorts, groomers, and in mixed snow.

NEVER SUMMER: Men's Proto Type Two
No matter how bad the snow conditions got, this board withheld the ice and slush. Incorporating the best tech from all of their other Never Summer boards. An asymmetrical design with more camber underfoot makes it versatile for all mountain riding, all day long.

GIRO Goggles:
We are happy to report that Giro's new Contact Goggle, part of their Vivid line with the spherical Zeiss lens is one of the best goggles we've ever worn. Being able to spot inconsistencies in the snow, in both foggy and sunny conditions is a game changer. The optics are crystal clear, with a mirrored lens, that's distortion-free and easy to change on the chairlift with their new quick release design. We recommend everyone tries Giro next winter!

RIDE: Men's Helix Snowboard
The asymmetrical design, lets you ride both ways, with a deeper sidecut on the heel side making it easier to alternate riding style.

HEAD: Men's Kore 93/105
All new freeride series from Head destroys everything in its path. A wood core, graphene and carbon sandwich keeps the ski super lightweight with medium flex. The top sheet "design layer" is for the first time built into the ski to save even more weight made from nylon and polyester. Unflappable in Northeast snow.

SALOMON: Astra 78 Woman's Skis
For any woman who likes to do big wide turns and quick little turns, these skis are easy to navigate on the groomers. Ensuring confidence towards the end of the day by staying stable under foot, when the snow gets rough.
